Still unwaveringly beautiful after 40 years: the Mercedes-Benz G-Class celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2019 and revealed the secret behind its eternal youth with an extraordinary film series produced in collaboration with our moving-image agency. The ads featured on Instagram, YouTube and Facebook.
The car uses the format of a classic beauty advert to take us through its regular beauty rituals in short film snippets. A female voice softly reveals the beneficial properties of the ingredients of body treatments, mud and sand whilst aesthetic close-ups fill the screen. Everything from nurturing mud packs to cleansing peels work in harmony to unlock the eternal youth of the classic car design icon.
We really enjoyed the experience of delving into the interplay of the characteristic real life of the off-road vehicle and the tonality of classic cosmetic ads.
What better way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of a car than showing it off with a twinkle in its eye? We used beauty treatments to shed some light on the secret of its eternal youth.
