30 years since the fall of the Berlin wall

Deutsche Bahn and Hertha BSC celebrate the end of division

9th November 1989 marked the end of a divided Germany with the fall of the Berlin wall. We have joined Deutsche Bahn and Hertha BSC in celebrating the upcoming 30th anniversary with an advert to make a statement on freedom and democracy.

We have been tasked with creating and producing the ad. DB had previously worked with our moving image experts for its ad #ForDiversity .

The football stars Vedad Ibišević, Davie Selke, Marvin Plattenhardt and Jordan Torunarigha from the capital city club will once again feature in this ad. Fast-paced images take the viewer on an emotional journey through time, culminating in the spectacular demolition of the Berlin Wall. The message is clear: we do not accept walls.

The fall of the wall was a dream come true for us railway workers. We were finally able to once again bring people together over the previous borders. Connecting people is still a matter very close to our hearts today.

Jürgen Kornmann, Head of Marketing and PR at DB

DB travels across borders and connects people every day – just like the team at Hertha BSC. Combing the two has created an exciting mix. We are immensely proud to have been granted the opportunity to re-enact this emotional topic.

Mirco Völker, CEO

The video is now available on the online channels of Deutsche Bahn, S-Bahn Berlin and Hertha BSC. The ad will also be aired on 9th November 2019 at the home game against RB Leipzig in the Olympic Stadium and in a range of selected cinemas.
