Digging Mozart

Fork brings Mozart’s works to life in the digital world

How do you bring a historic, nearly 1,400-page catalogue of works into the digital age?

For the International Mozarteum Foundation in Salzburg, our agency, Fork Unstable Media , has reimagined the time-honored Köchel Catalogue of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s works as a modern web application —scientifically sound, intuitively accessible, and enhanced with multimedia content.

With the digital edition of the newly conceived ninth edition of the catalogue, the application opens up entirely new perspectives for researchers, musicians, and Mozart enthusiasts alike. Fork has developed a platform that combines deep research functionality with playful ways to explore—ranging from interactive visualizations to audio content and curated editorial entry points.

The application not only offers precise search and filter options for academia and musicians, but also playful entry points for fans who want to interactively explore Mozart’s musical universe.

Technology Meets Music History

The application is powered by a comprehensive database featuring over 2,800 work entries and leverages modern technologies such as Next.js to provide a fast, stable, and user-friendly platform. Fork combines technological expertise with an instinct for structure, design, and musical content—creating a new form of experiencing Mozart in the digital space.

The collaboration with the Mozarteum Foundation began following a successful pitch in the spring of 2024. The shared goal: ensuring free, digital access to Mozart’s musical heritage—designed to meet today's highest standards.

Fork impressed us with its meticulousness, passion and technological expertise.
